Unfortunately, HRCLS doesn’t have the resources to assist everyone in our community, and we therefore prioritise assistance to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Children and young people (up to 24 years)
- People affected by natural disasters
- People experiencing or at risk of family, domestic and sexual violence
- People living with disability or mental illness
We provide assistance for a range of everyday legal problems through our civil law practice, and family law and family violence practice, including:
- Credit and debt
- Family and domestic violence (including Intervention Orders [IVOs] and Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders [ADVOs])
- Family law – children
- Family law – property
- Consumer complaints
- Separation and divorce
- Victims’ compensation (victims of crime)
- Fines and infringements
- Child support
- Housing and tenancy
- Government complaints
- Motor vehicle accidents – property damage
We will respond to referrals within 1-2 days.
Please provide details of the person needing assistance and the other person/s involved, including dates of birth where possible.
This information is needed to conduct a conflict of interest check before any assistance is provided. If a conflict of interest is identified, we are unable to assist for other reasons, such as capacity, we will provide referral options.
